EMILY ELIZABETH LIBRARY TOUR BEGINS AT LeLACHEUR

Spinners kick off ‘08 library tour with free ballpark event during school vacation week

LOWELL, MA – As part of a reading initiative last summer, the Lowell Spinners, Class A Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, introduced over one thousand children across the Greater Merrimack Valley to the real-life Emily Elizabeth that the Clifford character was named after.

On Thursday, February 21, the Spinners are inviting fans and friends to kick off the 2008 Emily Elizabeth Library Tour with a special event at LeLacheur Park beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Emily will read to the children in the Lowell Spinners’ clubhouse before taking pictures with the children and autographing books.

As with previous Emily Elizabeth Library Tour appearances, the event at LeLacheur Park is free and includes a copy of Clifford and the Big Storm, compliments of the Lowell Spinners and Collins Dentistry for Children in Pelham, NH.

Emily is the real-life daughter of Clifford the Big Red Dog creator and author Norman Bridwell. In the award-winning Clifford the Big Red Dog series of children’s books and kids’ television show, Emily is the famous dog’s owner and best friend.

“I’m excited to team up with the Spinners again to continue to foster the love of reading in children in the local community,” said Emily Elizabeth.

“Children and families are the foundation of the Lowell Spinners fan base,” said Spinners Vice President and General Manager, Tim Bawmann. “We think of the Spinners as a year-round operation, so we’re thrilled to partner with Emily Elizabeth again for some wholesome fun during winter vacation week.”

To reserve a spot at the LeLacheur Park event, please email Erin at elewis@lowellspinners.com with “Emily Elizabeth” in the subject line and the number of children you plan to bring in the email’s body. The event is limited to the first 50 children signed up.

The Emily Elizabeth Library Tour continue on to visit 10 local libraries, beginning with Nashua Public Library on February 28 at 2 p.m. Visit lowellspinners.com to see if the Emily Elizabeth Library Tour will be visiting your local library.
