SPINNERS AND LAKE MONSTERS PULL OFF INTERN TRADE
Transaction announced just before trade deadline
The Vermont Lake Monsters and Lowell Spinners have
announced the first-ever Front Office trade. After lengthy negotiations, Lake
Monsters General Manager, C.J. Knudsen, and Spinners Vice President and General
Manager, Tim Bawmann, have agreed to a trade that will send Lake Monsters intern
Michael “S’Zone” Biasuzzi and a pint of Ben & Jerry's Phish Food to Lowell in
return for Spinners intern Corey “Don’t Call Me Corey” Mills and a tour of
Lowell's beautiful canals.
Michael “S'Zone” Biasuzzi, a senior at Nichols College in Dudley, MA, joined the
Lake Monsters on May 24, 2007 after spending the spring semester in London,
England. He is now fluent in English and American. Mike is known at Centennial
Field for his t-shirt throwing skills and his dugout top appearances as “Dancing
Homer.”
Corey “Don't Call Me Corey” Mills, a student at the New England Institute of Art
and Communication in Boston, MA, has been assisting the Lowell Spinners with
their radio broadcasts on ESPN Radio 1400 throughout the 2007 season. Corey is
known throughout the Spinners front office for his stapling prowess, and his
intermediate understanding of box scores.
A previous deal between the two teams had been in place weeks ago, but one
intern involved in the trade reportedly did not pass through waivers and had to
be replaced.
“This wasn't a quick transaction,” said Knudsen. “What we thought would be a
simple trade ended up taking weeks to complete due to league rules.”
“We usually try not to trade within our division,” said Bawmann. “But when we
realized Biasuzzi could become a part of the Lowell Spinners organization, we
rethought our philosophies.”
The interns will join their new teams starting on August 29.
