SPINNERS AND INSIDE TRACK PARTNER TO NAME FENWAY HAWK
Winning Fan Submission to Win Prize Pack Featuring Red Sox/Yankees Tickets
LOWELL, Mass. – The Lowell Spinners, Class-A Affiliate of the World Series Champion Boston Red Sox, are looking for a name for the Red-Tailed Hawk, Fenway’s newest attraction and the new mascot of the Yankees Elimination Promotion.
Fenway has been host to several legendary hawks over the years from Andre “The Hawk” Dawson to Ken “Hawk” Harrleson. The Red-Tailed Hawk becomes the latest to patrol the Fenway grounds.
In an effort to name the now infamous hawk, the Spinners have partnered with the Boston Herald’s Inside Track to offer fans a chance to name the bird. The winning entry will not only have their moniker associated with the newest member of Red Sox Nation, but will also win a great prize pack featuring tickets to a Red Sox/Yankees game, tickets to a Spinners game against the Staten Island Yankees, the opportunity to throw out a ceremonial first pitch at LeLacheur Park and more.
“We have the best fans in baseball, as well as some of the most creative,” said Lowell Spinners Vice President/General Manager Tim Bawmann. “The imagination of Spinner fans and Red Sox Nation should provide several great options to choose from. We look forward to a difficult decision.”
All submissions should be sent via e-mail to elewis@lowellspinners.com or by mail to: Lowell Spinners, ATTN: Name the Hawk, 450 Aiken Street, Lowell, MA 01854. The deadline for all submissions is May 1, 2008.
The Spinners have lined up a Red-Tailed Hawk for fans to see in-person at the August 4 game through Jonathan Wood and his Raptor Project. Seats are still available and can be purchased through the Lowell Spinners ticket office by calling (978) 459-2255, visiting www.lowellspinners.com or visiting the box office at the ballpark, Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
