“SPINNERS IDOL” RETURNS TO FIND PERFECT ANTHEM SINGER

Grand Prize Winner to Sing at Futures at Fenway

LOWELL, MA – The Lowell Spinners, Class-A Affiliate of the World Champion Boston Red Sox, announced that the popular “Spinners Idol” contest, sponsored by MusicWorks Studio, will return in 2008 to find the best local vocal talents to perform the National Anthem at LeLacheur Park this summer.

In addition to the opportunity to perform the National Anthem prior to the 2008 Lowell Spinners opening night, one grand prize winner will sing the National Anthem before the Spinners take on the Hudson Valley Renegades Aug. 9 during the third annual Futures at Fenway doubleheader.

The grand prize winner will also receive complimentary studio time and a free demo tape from MusicBall Entertainment in Boston. Additionally, all “Spinners Idol” finalists will be invited to sing the National Anthem prior to a 2008 Spinners home game.

LeLacheur Park has served as the start to many great careers in professional baseball,” said Lowell Spinners Vice President and General Manager, Tim Bawmann. “It would seem only logical for the Spinners to provide the same launching pad for talented vocalists.”

Two audition events are scheduled, both to be held at The Skybox in Tewksbury beginning at 6 p.m.: Wednesday, May 7 and Thursday, May 15. Each location will be limited to 50 auditions.

To register for a time-slot, candidates must return the registration form posted at the Lowell Spinners website (www.lowellspinners.com). The first 50 registrations for each night will be given the chance to audition. Each contestant may only audition once.

Guest judges for “Spinners Idol” include Rachel Crawford, a vocal instructor for Idol sponsor MusicWorks of Tewksbury, and Mike Caputo and Balz, owners of MusicBall Entertainment. Caputo and Balz have helped develop and contribute to the success of LFO, JoJo and Boys Like Girls. They’re also working with 20-year-old Aimee Proal, an up-and-coming artist, whose first public appearance was singing the National Anthem for the Lowell Spinners in 2005.
