LOCAL BRAGGING RIGHTS ON THE LINE IN

THIRD ANNUAL SPINNERS WORLD SERIES

Tewksbury returns to join Lowell, Dracut and Chelmsford in battle for three-foot bobble head

LOWELL, MA – Once again LeLacheur Park will serve as a field of dreams for four local high school baseball teams competing for local bragging rights and the three-foot Canaligator bobble head trophy during the Third Annual Lowell Spinners World Series Monday, May 19 and Tuesday, May 20.

This year’s tournament will feature the return of Tewskbury High School after a year hiatus, replacing last year’s fourth place finisher Billerica, in addition to tournament stalwarts Dracut, Chelmsford and Lowell. As with last year’s tournament, the loser of the consolation game will not be invited back to next year’s event, being replaced by Metheun High School.

The first round takes place Monday, May 19 at LeLacheur Park when Tewksbury takes on Dracut at 5 p.m. in the early game. Defending champion Lowell takes on Chelmsford at 7 p.m. for the night cap. The Championship Game will take place Tuesday, May 20, at 7 p.m., with the consolation game taking place at 5 p.m.

Additionally, a graduating senior from each team will be awarded a $500 scholarship courtesy of the Spinners and Therefit Plus, Inc. Scholarship winners will be selected based upon leadership qualities and being an outstanding citizen within their local communities.

Admission to the Lowell Spinners World Series is $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens. Children 12-years-old and under will be admitted for free. All of the money raised at the gate will go towards Lowell Spinners Charities.

“The Spinners organization from top-to-bottom is proud to host this unique event at LeLacheur Park,” said Lowell Spinners Vice President/General Manager, Tim Bawmann. “It gives us a chance to let the players live out their dreams, the community to come out to the ballpark and the organization to connect to the community. While the players vie for the Canaligator bobble head trophy, we look forward to awarding the scholarship money to the deserving seniors.”
